Terms of Service

Plain-English terms for using The Registry. By using the site, you agree to these rules. If something is unclear, ask us before relying on it.

Last updated · May 10, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of viewtheregistry.com and any related features (collectively, the “Service”), operated by The Registry. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What The Registry is

The Registry is a publication of real wedding pricing data, contributed anonymously by couples and aggregated by us. Vendor listings are compiled from user-generated content, publicly available sources, and/or direct correspondence with vendors. The Service exists to make wedding costs legible to couples who are planning a wedding.

The Registry is not a booking platform, not a marketplace, not a broker, and not a vendor. We do not contract with vendors on your behalf, take a fee on any transaction, or warrant that any quoted price will hold when you contact a vendor directly.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you are at least 18, that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that you will use the Service only for lawful purposes.

3. Submissions

When you submit a cost, you confirm that:

  • The amount you are reporting reflects what you (or someone in your household) actually paid or were quoted for the service described.
  • You are not posting on behalf of a vendor, competitor, or other interested party.
  • The information is not knowingly false, defamatory, threatening, obscene, or otherwise unlawful.
  • You are not submitting personally identifying information about anyone other than yourself in the optional free-text fields.

You retain ownership of what you submit, including any images you upload. By submitting, you grant The Registry a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to store, host, reproduce, modify (including cropping, resizing, compressing, and adding visible attribution), aggregate, publish, display, and distribute your submission, in whole or in part, as part of the Service and in derivative datasets, statistics, and editorial works. This license covers the price, the details you provide, and any images you upload.

For image submissions, you represent that (a) you own the image or have explicit permission from the copyright holder to grant the rights described above, and (b) you have any necessary consent from people who appear in the image to share it on a public site. We strip EXIF metadata from uploaded images to remove geolocation and device identifiers before publication.

This license is limited to the content you submit. It does not give us separate rights in your name, likeness, or other personal information.

We may edit, redact, or remove any submission at our discretion, for any reason or no reason, including to enforce these Terms, to protect the integrity of the dataset, or to honor a takedown request.

4. Vendor listings and accuracy

We compile vendor listings from user-generated content, publicly available sources, and/or direct correspondence with vendors. We try to be accurate, but we cannot guarantee that every listing, price point, capacity figure, address, or contact detail is correct or current. Prices reported on the Service reflect what individual couples told us they paid or were quoted in a specific configuration on a specific date. Your quote from the same vendor may be higher or lower depending on date, guest count, scope, season, and many other factors.

Do not treat anything on The Registry as a quote. Always confirm pricing directly with the vendor before contracting.

Vendors who want a listing corrected, updated, or removed should contact hello@viewtheregistry.com or follow the process on our takedown page. We acknowledge requests, review the content and any documentation provided, and decide whether to remove, edit, annotate, or leave the listing in place. We do not treat every request as automatically valid, and we may decline requests that ask us to remove information that is accurate, sourced, and within the scope of our editorial mission.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Submit pricing data that you know to be false, or attempt to manipulate the dataset to favor or disfavor any particular vendor.
  • Use automated tools (scrapers, crawlers, headless browsers, large-scale aggregators) to extract data from the Service without our prior written permission. Reasonable hand-curated research, citing and hyperlinking to The Registry, is fine.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code of the Service.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, except via coordinated disclosure as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the data as a competing product.
  • Submit personally identifying information about other people, unlawful content, or content that infringes the rights of others.
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or that would expose The Registry to legal liability.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including the site design, layout, code, editorial copy, compiled datasets, and brand assets, is owned by The Registry and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Individual price submissions are licensed to us under Section 3. You may not use The Registry’s trademarks or trade dress without our written permission.

You may cite and quote The Registry for journalistic, academic, or non-commercial purposes with attribution and a hyperlink back to the source page on the Service. Bulk reuse of the dataset requires a license.

7. Third-party content and links

The Service may link to third-party sites (including vendor websites) that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of those sites, and a link is not an endorsement.

8. DMCA and takedowns

If you believe content on the Service infringes a copyright you own, send a notice to hello@viewtheregistry.com with the information required under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). See our DMCA and takedown page for details.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Registry disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that the data is complete, accurate, or current; or that any information on the Service will produce any particular result for you. Wedding planning decisions you make based on data from The Registry are your decisions.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Registry and its principals, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, business, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our aggregate liability for any direct damages arising out of or related to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply to the maximum extent permitted.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Registry from any claim, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of (a) content you submit to the Service, (b) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, including for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.

13. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may change the Service or these Terms at any time. When we make material changes to the Terms, we will update the “last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, post a notice on the site for at least 30 days. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflicts-of-law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

15. Miscellaneous

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and The Registry regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements on the subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them freely.
