For the press

Press Kit

Everything you need to write about The Registry accurately. Methodology in one click, a real human to email, and a fast turnaround on data requests.

What we are, in one line

The Registry is a public dataset of real wedding pricing, contributed anonymously by couples after their wedding and paired with vendor data compiled from public sources.

What we are not

  • Not a booking platform or marketplace.
  • Not a directory monetized by sponsored vendor listings.
  • Not a lead-gen referral business.

Methodology

Our full methodology is documented at /how-it-works. The short version:

  • Median (not mean) is the headline summary, because wedding pricing is skewed.
  • Submissions are normalized for day of week, guest count, and seasonality before they contribute to a vendor median.
  • We do not publish a summary statistic until a vendor has at least three normalized submissions.
  • Anonymous by design: no account, no email, hashed IPs for rate limiting only.

For deeper methodology questions (sampling, weighting, outlier treatment, market-level confidence) email us and we will walk you through it.

Citing The Registry

We are happy to be cited and quoted. We ask for two things:

  1. Link to the specific page that contains the number you are citing, not just the homepage. Our market and vendor pages have stable URLs.
  2. If you are publishing a derivative chart or table, note the sample size and the date of the snapshot. Numbers move as more couples submit.

Data requests

We are happy to pull custom market-level or category-level aggregates for legitimate journalism and academic research, free of charge. Email us with the question, the publication, and the timeline. We will turn around what we can within five business days.

For ongoing data access or syndication, we license the dataset commercially in limited cases. Email us with the proposed use.
